Watercolor - I was astounded to find that I had better field guides to Zimbabwe's fishes growing up than the field guides to USA fishes. I think the fish people have a lot to learn from the bird people lik David Sibley who have really set the trend for good field guide design. I drew this as a specimen plate for my ideal field guide to USA fishes - including all adult color variants and juvenile coloration, but I don't see myself completing 800 plates unless I win the lottery!
