Websites
Communication in todays world is an essential survival skill. The web represents a true democracy that empowers individuals and organizations to achieve impacts far greater than their budgets. Brian has designed several wesites, and on his weekends runs two small conservation related groups, one on Zimbabwe and the other showcasing the Urban Wildlife of Washington DC.
ZimConservation
ZimConservation is a small web-based organization that I started in 2004 to fill a vacant communications gap about what was happening in my home country. As the increasingly autocratic Mugabe regime began its systematic campaign of dismantling the economy, much attention was focused on the deteriorating human-rights, economic and HIV problems, but an unheard wildlife crisis was unfolding. With help from volunteers we have grown and have over 200 members on our mailing list. The site gets about 3000 unique visitors per month.
DCNature
DCNature was started in 2006 along with a group of like-minded friends and amateur photographers who wanted a venue to showcase the wonderful animals and wildlfe living inside the beltway which encloses the District of Columbia. It subscribes to the principle of the creative commons and all pictures on DCNature can be used freely by anyone for any purposes on condition that the photographer is acknowledged alongside any reproduction.
Save The Tiger Fund
At Save The Tiger Fund, I am lucky enough to be paid to develop content for their website. My primary aim is to disseminate finings from 300 plus grants to improve conservation practice, as well as keeping a track of recent news developments, raising money for tiger conservation and educating people generally about one of the world's most charismatic animals.
