Parks Appoints New Board

THE Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has appointed a new eight-member board, with Mr George Pangeti bouncing back as chairman.
A biologist and ecologist by training, Mr Pangeti worked for the Department of Parks and Wildlife Management (the authority's forerunner) and rose through the ranks to become the director. His academic achievements include a BSc General degree (London) and several qualifications on project management, national parks and protected areas and development studies.
Also reappointed to the board was Mr Ngonidzashe Alfred Chinogwenya, a legal practitioner and member of the Law Society of Zimbabwe.
He will be joined by accountant Mr Peter Mudzamiri and Mrs Rose Mukogo, who holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Zimbabwe.
Among the newcomers is Professor Gilbert Pwiti, who chairs both the Prehistory Society of Zimbabwe ane UZ history department. The others are Mr Alvin Ncube, Mr Ambrose Made and Mr Jerry Gotora.
Mr Gotora brings a vast wealth of experience to the parks authority after serving on the boards of Campfire Association, Zesa Holdings and Zinara.
Mr Ncube holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Honours) and Master of Business Adminstration while Mr Made is a scientist.
The Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, like the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), falls under the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
