Enviroment and Tourism Minister Cde Francis Nhema has bankrolled musical groups in Shurugwi to the tune of $1 billion to record a gospel compilation album entitled Rwendo Rwekutenda.

The project co-ordinator, Bheki Ndlovu, said the groups which contributed to the album are Sibanyi, New Accord, United Apostolic Faith Church and Charles Wraith Primary School. Patrick Nyengo is the only individual featured on the album. The 12 tracks are Mufudzi Wangu, I see Jesus, Ndoita Sei, Kune Nyika, Chiiko, Ariyo, Nhendesure, Unoneta Here, Rwendo, He Holds and two Nyanja songs Ine Naima Pano and Ndina Lakwanji.

Ndlovu said all contributors performed Ariyo and Rwendo. He said it was entirely Cde Nhema's idea to bring them together after he had seen them performing at a function in Shurugwi in September last year. "We are expecting to record separate albums soon using the profits from the sales of the album," said Ndlovu.

He said they have so far been performing in churches in Gweru, Kwekwe and Chinhoyi. Ndlovu said they would soon perform in Harare.

He expressed gratitude to Cde Nhema and musician Bob Nyabinde who produced their music and played the bass guitar.
