HELP KEEP THE ZAMBEZI WILD!
PLEASE RENEW YOUR INTERNATIONAL MEMBERSHIP.
We are delighted to tell you that The Zambezi Society’s international membership payment systems are now ready to receive your membership subscriptions (and donations) in time for our 25th Anniversary year!
Towards the end of 2006, we changed our international banking facilities. This coincided with the annual renewal of Zambezi Society Membership. During the setting up of the banking facilities, we did not want to confuse our members until we had everything perfectly in place. Although this was achieved by January 2007, we had missed our membership cycle and so decided to wait until the 2007/2008 cycle to send out renewals.
Attached to this e-mail you will find information and a form telling you how to pay your 2007/2008 membership subscription via the new system and renew your support for The Zambezi Society’s conservation activities in some of the finest wilderness areas in the world.
Although you skipped a subscription year, we hope you have enjoyed receiving our newsletters in the interim. You have been a generous supporter of our activities in the past. We need your support more than ever now. Please renew your membership immediately and strengthen this commitment.
Celebrate 25 years with us!
The Zambezi Society has been in existence for 25 years. This is a cause for celebration! We are proud of the considerable achievements of our first quarter-century, and are delighted to be as active and committed as ever, despite an economic and political climate which makes life as a non-profit conservation organisation in the Zambezi region extremely challenging.
25 years on, the Zambezi river basin remains our focus of attention under four broad themes: wildlife, wilderness, water & wetlands and protected area support. Under these themes we undertake various activities in the Zambezi basin states, particularly in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Currently these include:
· providing a community voice for people concerned with issues and developments taking place in the Zambezi region;
· advocacy, lobbying and policy development to help conserve Zambezi biodiversity and wilderness and to encourage sound, basin-wide planning which values these resources.
· biological research on Zambezi species: black rhinos, carnivores, elephants
· training & education in species and wilderness awareness and management
· support for protected areas – purchasing equipment and supplies for National Park stations
· disseminating information about the Zambezi’s important biodiversity and wilderness values - through posters, leaflets, the print media and the Internet.
